"The General Assembly finished their work for the 2021 session on Saturday.  This has been one of the most progressive sessions in Virginia history and I am proud of the work that this session resulted in.  Virginia is the first state in the south to abolish the death penalty, legalize weed, provide paid time off to home health workers, to criminal justice reform that was much needed.  This proves that elections matter and why democrats need to continue to win seats to keep the will of the people intact.  Thank you to Delegate Jay Jones and Senator Spruill for representing the 89th district so well this past session"

"The people have spoken and have selected a change here in the United States.  President-Elect Biden and Vice-President-Elect will bring integrity and honor back into the White House, and credibility around the world.  I am proud of the role that Virginia played in going to the democratic ticket and the 89th district coming out in full support of the Biden-Harris team."

" I am exuberant  that the Governor has granted Matthew a conditional pardon.  This is a result of the hard work of many advocates and the most vocal his mother.  I am proud of the hard work that many have done to make this happen, and its going to be an amazing day when Matthew is reunited with his family and the Virginia Beach Community,   I thank the Governor and the administration for working to make this happen and am proud to call the Governor a friend"  

I was appalled that the Grand Jury in the Breonna Taylor case failed to give her, her family, and the community the justice they all deserve.  This continues to be an issue in black and brown communities and its clearly unacceptable.  I urge that the Attorney General  to reopen this investigation and bring those guilty parties to be held accountable.  

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Justice Ginsburg.  Justice Ginsburg was a legal giant dedicating her whole life to fight for equality of women's rights and those that are the most likely to be discriminated against.  Her voice is going to be missed on the bench and there is no way to replace her and her fighting spirit.
